Survey Theme Extractor

Pro v1.0.0 1 view

Analyze open-ended survey responses to extract themes, categorize responses, count frequencies, analyze sentiment, and generate actionable insights. Saves 4-6 hours of manual coding work.

What You Get

Extract themes and actionable insights from open-ended survey responses in minutes instead of hours of manual qualitative coding

The Problem

You have dozens or hundreds of open-ended survey responses but manually reading, categorizing, and analyzing them takes 4-6 hours of tedious work. Without systematic analysis, you miss patterns and struggle to prioritize actions.

The Solution

This skill automates the qualitative analysis of open-ended survey responses through systematic theme extraction and categorization. It reads through all responses to identify distinct themes, groups similar concepts into coherent categories, and counts frequency of each theme. The skill analyzes sentiment per theme, extracts representative quotes, and generates prioritized recommendations based on frequency and urgency. The analysis produces a structured output with themes ranked by priority, sub-theme breakdowns, sentiment scores, and specific quotes illustrating each theme. Insights are synthesized into actionable recommendations organized by timeframe (immediate, next quarter, future).

How It Works

  1. 1 Collect survey responses in any format (pasted text, CSV, or numbered list) and clarify survey question and context
  2. 2 Read through all responses to identify distinct themes and patterns, grouping similar concepts into 5-10 major themes
  3. 3 Categorize each response to identified themes, counting mentions per theme and calculating percentages
  4. 4 Analyze sentiment per theme on scale from highly negative to highly positive, noting urgency signals
  5. 5 Extract 3-5 representative quotes per major theme that clearly illustrate the theme with specific details
  6. 6 Generate insights summary and prioritized recommendations organized by timeframe (immediate, next quarter, future)

What You'll Need

  • Survey responses (minimum 25, ideal 50+) in text format, CSV, or pasted list
  • Survey question or context for the responses
  • Optional: Specific areas of focus or hypotheses to investigate
